LEGACY

The Commission should seek to provide all Marylanders, regardless of race, with a better understanding of the lingering and destructive impacts of slavery on African Americans today – particularly in the various sectors of their lives – residence, employment, business, politics, income and wealth, crime and justice, etc. Contributing to, presenting, and conducting relevant research based upon sound research principles should accomplish this. The commission will also encourage others to do the same through educational and youth development programs, and other initiatives.
