The Commission will work to identify historic sites throughout the State that relate to the history and legacy of slavery. These should include historically African American communities that formed as a result of slavery, the Reconstruction Era, and the era of racial segregation known as Jim Crow. The Commission seeks to monitor the preservation and development of these sites.
