GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Many of the Commission’s goals and objectives conform to the guidelines of the State’s Managing For Results (MFR) Program. Conforming to MFR Goal 1 is the facet of the Commission’s work that seeks to identify, describe, appraise, preserve, and make accessible to Maryland citizens and public officials those records deemed to have permanent administrative, legal, historical, or educational value. MFR Goal 3 will be supported by the Commission’s efforts toward encouraging a broader and better understanding of Maryland history and government by providing a well introduced, carefully preserved, and accessible archives on the web, including, but not limited to, the implementation of biographical, geographical, local and regional studies. Furthermore, these goals and objectives greatly enhance the process by which general knowledge about the work of the Commission, slavery in Maryland, and other issues mandated in Senate Bill 854 may be disseminated.
